(Germantown, TN) Police say once again, some smart phones may have outsmarted the bad guys.

Germantown police say some possible suspects in an automobile burglary may have accidentally sent pictures of themselves to the victim of an iPhone theft through Apple’s iCloud service.

iCloud allows iPhone users to access their music, photos, calendars, contacts from whatever device they are on.

Investigators say when the victim of the iPhone theft activated their replacement iPhone they discovered that iCloud was still updating from the stolen phone and several pictures appeared of three different people.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has posted the pictures on its Facebook page to help Germantown Police identify them and says whoever took those pictures did law enforcement a big favor.

“Anytime you can get video or photo evidence of  potential crimes or potential criminals it always aids us quite a bit in helping not just us, but any law enforcement agency,” said Chip Washington with the Shelby County Sheriff’s office.

If you recognize the people in the picture call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
