(Memphis)  FedEx is expecting to be very busy during the upcoming holiday season, thanks in part to a big boost in online shopping.

Monday, the Memphis-based shipping giant released its annual shipping forecast for the holiday season. The company expects to handle 280 million shipments between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, a 13% increase over last year.

If the forecast holds true, it would set a new record for the number of packages handled by FedEx during a holiday season.

The increase in business is good news for the shipping giant. In September, the company announced plans to offer buyouts to thousands of employees. It also lowered its fiscal year earnings forecast due to slow global growth.
