(Tunica, MS) A number of employees at the Fitz Casino in Tunica County have lost their jobs.

There are reports more than 80 employees were laid off, though Fitz has not confirmed the number of people affected.

Fitz Statement:

The management team of Fitz Casino & Hotel Tunica has decided to implement a reduction in the workforce.

Due to the regional economic softness, seasonal business fluctuations and increased competition management has re-evaluated multiple areas to find synergies and efficiencies.

Consequently changes to the organizational structure were necessary, which has resulted in some positions being eliminated.

Management has analyzed the business environment of the market and looked for areas of moderate and long-term market demand.

As a result management revised the organizational structure, positioning the employee base to better meet the needs of the property and our guests as well as anticipated organizational development for the future.

In consideration of this difficult decision the company recognized the importance of providing severance packages for those team members that were displaced, in addition to ensuring that they will be eligible for rehire if the situation changes.
