(Memphis) Family and friends of Karen Denise Thomas are searching for answers after the mother’s Chevy Trailblazer was found abandoned Monday morning.

The car was found in the parking lot of Garden Ridge off of Summer near I-240 and Sam Cooper.

“They really didn’t tell us anything. They have told us they are going to take the car to the lab and fingerprint and do I guess what they usually do,” explained Thomas’ frustrated sister Renee Shaw.

According to police, Thomas was last seen leaving her home in the 2700 block of Welchlawn Cove in Memphis Thursday night.

According to Thomas’ husband Terrence, she left in casual clothes after 9 pm but did not say where she was going.

“She said she was stepping out,” explained Terrence who said he did not ask his wife any questions.

Since Thursday, Thomas has not shown up to work at the DoubleTree Hotel in Downtown Memphis and calls to her cell phone have not been returned.

Terrence claims he logged onto their Verizon account and said his wife’s phone has not been used all weekend.

Renee says it’s unlike her sister, who is the mother of a 11-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, to leave without telling anyone.

“Maybe somebody has her hostage.  That’s the only thing I’m coming up with because I don’t want to come up with anything else,” said Renee.

Anyone who has information about Thomas is asked to call the MPD at  545-COPS.
