(Memphis)  A Memphis mom is facing charges after police say she lied about a carjacking Monday night.

22-year-old Ashley Jones is being held at the Shelby County Jail, charged with filing a false report. She will be arraigned Tuesday morning.

The incident happened just after 8 p.m. Monday at the Rivertown Square Apartments in the 2200 block of Airways Blvd.

Jones told police that a man got into her car and drove off with her three-year-old son inside. Officers found the alleged carjacker, the child and the vehicle a few blocks away.

Later on, as police investigated the incident, Jones admitted that she lied about the incident. As it turns out, she knew the man she claimed was the carjacker and he was originally a passenger in the car.

Police say he got behind the wheel and drove off to avoid a fight with Jones' boyfriend.
