(Memphis) If you plan on voting in the November election, your time to register to vote is almost up.
The deadline is October 8th.
Under Federal law, people have to register to vote 30 days prior to the election and that deadline is this coming Monday.
Chairman Robert Meyers says don’t wait until the last-minute to do because offices of the Shelby County Election Commission are slammed because it’s a presidential election year.
He says something else is clogging up the system as well, “If you are already registered, don’t re-register.”
Here’s how you find out if you are already registered to vote, go to www.shelbyvote.com and push the button that says “Am I registered?” Enter your address to find out. If you are not registered, here’s how you can do it: From the website, print out a voter registration application, fill it out, sign it and either mail it in or bring it by your local election commission office. But you better do it quick.
“Don’t wait to the last day to do it!” said Meyers.
