(Knoxville, TN) The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity campus chapter has been suspended indefinitely after an agreement was reached today with the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
The fraternity pleaded guilty to seven specific charges of misconduct related to the September 22 incident in which a student from Memphis nearly died due to an alcohol enema.
Charges are also pending for an August 31 incident.
The Pi Kappa Alpha house has to be vacated by 5 p.m., October 7.
The Student Judicial Affairs agreement specified UT will not consider allowing the fraternity to reorganize at UT until spring, 2015 or later.
Since alcohol enemas allow the liquid to bypass the liver, more alcohol gets into the blood stream.
Student Life Vice Chancellor Tim Rogers will convene a task force of alumni, students, faculty and staff to review Greek life on campus and to make recommendations for improving a personal sense of responsibility among members and enhancing the chapters’ contributions to campus life.
The chapter notified the PiKappa Alpha International Fraternity headquarters today of its decision to voluntarily surrender its charter to the national organization.Submit Your Photo
