Investigators Find Missing Teen’s Body In Rural Tipton County

(Covington, TN) Tipton County Sheriff’s Office deputies have located the body of 18-year-old James Jones Jr.  in rural eastern Tipton County on Lindsey Road Covington. 

The TBI is leading the death investigation surrounding his death.  The Tipton County Medical Examiner Dr. Buffy Cook has requested an autopsy at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. 

Jones' car was found parked in front of a large, metal shed, just outside of Covington.

Investigators found blood inside the car.

He disappeared Sunday night and when they found the car they believed foul play is involved.

The Tipton County Sheriff's office has been searching with K-9s.

Memphis Police even helped by lending its helicopter for and aerial search, but nothing was found.

Jones was last seen Sunday evening on surveillance video from a business in Covington.

Investigators said everything appeared to be fine then, but 12 hours later he seemingly disappeared.
