First Female Mayor Of Oxford, MS Has Died

{Oxford, MS} The first female mayor of Oxford, Mississippi has died.

Patricia Lamar served as mayor from 1997 to 2001.

She also served 12 years as alderman.

During her tenure, parts of Jackson Avenue were widened and an old country club was converted into a park.

Patricia Lamar died Monday in Oxford.

She was 71 years old.
