Escaped Killer Caught

(Parchman, MS) A convicted killer has been captured after escaping from the Mississippi State Penitentiary.

Michael Dowda was working on the grounds with other inmates when he stole a truck and escaped last Saturday.

He got away in a 2005 Silverado pick-up truck with Yalobusha County plates (disability tag with the number 0922).

Dowda, who was considered armed and dangerous, was arrested overnight after being spotted in Macon, Georgia.

He is serving a life sentenced for a murder in Harrison County in South Mississippi.
