Hearing Today in Greg Davis Divorce Case
(Southaven, MS) Southaven Mayor Greg Davis will appear in DeSoto County Chancery Court Wednesday morning for a hearing on his divorce agreement with his ex-wife.
Suzann Davis wants to amend the terms of the agreement to give her sole custody of the couple’s three children and court-ordered child support.
In the court filing, Mrs. Davis accused her ex-husband of hiding money from her and using his political clout to threaten her. She also accused Davis of drinking excessively around their children.
As part of the amendment, attorneys for Mrs. Davis want to court to ensure that Mayor Davis makes his child support payments before he pays the estimated $73,000 he still owes the city for personal expenses.
“There’s been no allegation that the children or the ex-wife had inappropriately used state or city funds, so it would be unfair to take from them,” said Martin Zummach, the attorney representing Suzann Davis.
Mayor Davis is currently involved in a legal battle with the Mississippi State Auditor’s Office. The state is attempting to garnish Davis’ checks to force him to pay the remaining money he owes the City of Southaven.
