Cancer Patient And Nurse Murdered
(Trumann, AR) Neighbors say John Poff was dying of cancer, living his last days inside a trailer home on Viva Drive.
His death came not from the disease, but a bullet.
“It just kept getting louder and louder and at that time I heard four or five shots”, said one neighbor.
She said Poff was killed alongside his nurse.
“She was over there taking care of him, she was a LPN nurse.”
That woman was Constance Cole.
Her relatives said Cole’s home recently burned down in a fire.
They say she and cancer patient John Poff had a deal, she could stay there, if she helped take care of him.
“He didn’t want to die alone,” one relative said.
“She would give you the shirt off her back, she was a good person. I don’t know why someone would do something like this,” the relative said.
Neighbors also told us they spotted a man driving away from the house that night.
They’ve heard officers tracked him down and made an arrest, but police would not confirm that because it is a holiday and the police chief is unavailable.
