Someone Has The Tiger’s Tongue

(Memphis) It’s hard to miss the Tiger statues around the city of Memphis and the University of Memphis campus.

But, if you look closely, several of the tigers on campus are missing their tongues.

“You know, it’s not really funny. It’s unfortunate that somebody would think that’s funny to do something like that,” said National Alumni Association Board of Directors President Allie Prescott.

There are 100 total tiger statues.

Not all of them are missing their tongues, and there is no exact count of exactly how many are missing their tongues.

The statues have only been up for the past year, to celebrate the University of Memphis’ centennial.

Alumni and businesses paid $5,000 for the tigers.

“If they had defaced the tiger, we would be out there right now cleaning it up, but we need to decide if its had any impact on it,” said Prescott.

He said the board will meet soon to decide what to do about the missing tongues.

So far, it is not known who took the tiger tongues.
