Elderly Man Killed in House Fire

(Memphis) An elderly man was killed when his North Memphis home burned this morning.

The fire started around 6:30 a.m. in the 2200 block of Curry Ave. near Chelsea Ave. and Hollywood St.

A neighbor told News Channel 3 he saw the smoke and tried to help the man inside the house, but was unable to get inside.

A Memphis firefighter suffered burned hands while battling the fire and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
