(Memphis) Cordova High School football coach William Johnson has been temporarily relieved of his coaching duties during an investigation by the school district.

Johnson is accused of using an ineligible player during the Memphis Interscholastic Athletic Association football jamboree earlier this month.

We are told the student in question transferred to Cordova High, but that process was not completed when he joined the team.

An assistant coach will fill in for Johnson.

The investigation does not interfere with Johnson’s teaching duties.
