(Clarksdale, MS) Homes riddled with bullet holes leave people in Clarksdale, Mississippi wondering if they’re even safe indoors.

It’s not just being shot at from a drive-by, but they also have to worry about people breaking into their homes.

Freddie Robertson’s home was hit Wednesday night, “As I was approaching my bedroom, I heard gunshots, which I thought were firecrackers till I heard the glass break.”

His home on Mckinley Street was peppered with gun fire.

There are bullet holes in two windows, and the siding looks like Swiss cheese.

Robertson says he’s scared, “It’s very unsettling because you can’t get no sleep, no rest and then you’re not comfortable.”

He says there’s just too many guns on the streets, and in the hands of people who aren’t afraid to use them.

What worries him the most is why his house was hit, “I would have no idea. I don’t have the slightest idea of what went on or why I was targeted.”

One bullet hit his neighbor’s house and three more bullets hit a house next door that’s being renovated.

Jerry Beamon has been working on the house for a couple of weeks, “And today I came here and done seen these bullet holes in here. And now that’s more money I got to spend just for stupidity man.”

Beamon is concerned about his safety, so he adjusted his work schedule, “I get here in the morning and then I leave around five o’clock before it gets too rough. You know it’s kind of dangerous around here.”

Curtis Boschert is Clarksdale’s City Attorney.

He says police have stepped up patrols in neighborhoods where shootings and burglaries on are the rise, “We have put out a “shift” in the evening time to augment the current shifts. So there’s a lot more men and manpower in the street during the evening times.”

Three people are in custody following Wednesday night’s shooting, and police recovered three guns.
