Woman Attacked with Baseball Bat, Vacuum Cleaner
(Memphis) – A woman in Nutbush was severely beaten with a baseball bat, police say. She wished to remain anonymous, but wanted to get the word out about 51-year-old Gregory Lindsey. Friday evening, she says they had gone back to his home for drinks after going to dinner. That’s when she says Lindsey snapped.
“[He took] about three or four more shots, got up, grabbed me by the hair on my head and says ‘Hey crack whore, remember all of the things you had done to me in my past’ and then begins kicking me,” said the victim whose eyes were both swollen shut. “Next thing I know, here comes a ball bat up the side of my head.”
She doesn’t remember anything else, but a witness told police Lindsey picked up a vacuum and continued the beating as the woman tried to get away.
“If he doesn’t get his way with a woman, he is going to get her back one way or another, somehow, some form,” she said.
The victim said her bruised and swollen face is proof of Lindsey’s vengeful ways.
“No human being, man, woman, cat, dog, no one deserves to be beat like this,” said Jennifer, the victim’s daughter. She hopes Lindsey stays in jail for a long time.
“I am thankful to be alive today because I know there is a god,” the victim said. “There is someone watching over me and this is really a wake-up call for me. It really is.”
Police couldn’t tell us, Saturday night, why Lindsey was wearing a neck brace in his mug shot. Neighbors say he went to the Med before going to jail. He is charged with Aggravated Assault and is still in jail on a $10,000 bond.
