(Memphis) ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is bringing in big bucks at the box office and so is ‘The Amazing Spiderman,’ which has only been in the theaters a few weeks.

Police say one Memphis woman has also been cashing in, selling counterfeit copies of the films right out of her home.

“I wonder how she did that? I mean in the movies or can you burn them?” said Mel Coleman.

Coleman has seen a bootlegged movie before and knows how bad the quality can be, “Some of them you see people walking through like they are in the aisles and some of them are a little too dark.”

She can’t imagine why anyone would buy one and was even more surprised to learn her neighbor, 45-year-old Sabrina White, was arrested for making them.

“That’s not right,” said Coleman.

Police say they got a tip White was copying and selling counterfeit DVD’s from her home.

A detective placed an order for ‘The Amazing Spiderman,’  ‘Madagascar 3,’  and ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’

When police get to White’s house they say she had all three movies ready for them, but instead of buying them, they served a search warrant and found bootlegged movies throughout the house.

Police say White was also burning a copy of the movie ‘Magic Mike’ and they found several DVD’s with handwritten titles.

In all, they confiscated more than 2,000 DVD’s valued at over $26,000 and 925 CD’s worth more than $9,000.

“People can’t afford to go to the movies right now, but it looks like she is doing pretty good,” said Coleman.

Police aren’t saying how White managed to bootleg the movies.

She has been charged with the unlawful possession and sale of recorded devices.
