Delta Pilot Calls Alert At Memphis International
(Memphis) At Memphis International Airport, a passenger’s cellphone camera captured the images of a Delta Airlines flight temporarily grounded and surrounded by airport police cars.
The flight from Memphis was en route to Atlanta when a pilot called in an alert and airport police responded.
Larry Cox is president of the Memphis & Shelby County Airport Authority, “There was something on the airplane that looked unusual. So, the crew asked that our police officers to come with their dogs.”
For several minutes, passengers were removed from the airplane and rerouted to other flights.
Police officers and their dogs searched the aircraft looking for anything suspicious, but nothing was found and there no problems on board the plane.
Passengers on other flights who saw the cellphone pictures said they’re pleased extra security measures are taken these days.
Tracy Osborne and her daughter, Alex, were on their way to Canada, “I appreciate it because security, of course, is a concern in these days and that makes me feel more confident that they’re going to be taking steps to ensure that we are secure and safe as much as possible.”
Steve Schneider agreed, “These days you have to take everything seriously with all these things happening in the world. So, I’m glad everything turned out and I’m glad it’s right, but we do have to take all the precautions when we are told.”
After the delay and everything was checked out, the flight did take off without any problems
