(Memphis) Memphis Police are investigating dozens of air conditioning unit thefts just within the past week.

John 14:13  beauty shop owner, Johnnie Mae Williams said she came in last Friday to a mess, “There was no air, it was completely broken. They tried to steal it, but the unit was bolted so they just made a lot of damage.”

We’re told surveillance cameras caught a glimpse of the two responsible,  but their work is anything but picture perfect.

Despite the heat, the shop stayed open.

“Our clients wouldn’t let us close down, they had to have services,” said Williams.

Tuesday, there were some empty chairs.

Some clients and a stylist just couldn’t bear being in the shop without central air.

Thankfully, a church member gave Williams a portable A/C unit and they brought in a lot of fans.

“One client even gave us a case of water,” said Williams.

Williams told News Channel 3 she`s keeping faith the unit is fixed soon and the culprits are caught, ” I pray that whatever their situation was that God will help them so they wont have to steal.”

The crooks remain on the streets.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
