Sexual Assault at Madison Co. Rest Stop

(Madison Co., TN) Their job is to keep the rest stops clean and safe, but one attendant at an Interstate 40 rest stop in Madison County is accused of a little more.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office charged him with sexual battery after a woman said he groped her when she stopped to use the rest room.

The news alarmed many people driving along I-40.

The woman claims she stopped there early Sunday morning, and as she walked out of the bathroom, she said the attendant walked up to her and started touching her breasts.

She threatened him with pepper spray and called 911 around 4:30 am

The news shocked traveler Tammy Blat who was driving back home to West Tennessee after a trip to Texas.

“I worried about rest stops before but never the attendant”, said Blatt. “Nowadays you don’t know where to stop, it could happen any place.”
