Annexing Debate with Councilman Jim Strickland

At the Memphis City Council meeting this week, talk turned to De-Annexing a part of Cordova that recently became a part of Memphis.  There was debate over whether the city would actually lose money, not gain it, by taking on 5,000 new residents.  The council attorney insists, however, that the annexation will mean a budget surplus for Memphis.  But some council members, like Jim Strickland, still think annexation in general deserves closer scrutiny.
