Bluff City Summer League Cancelled
Memphis, TN– Less than three weeks into this year’s Bluff City Summer League and tournament organizers are shutting things down, cancelling the final month-plus of the Bluff in the wake of a deadly shooting that occurred near LeMoyne-Owen earlier this week.
The Bluff has been a summer staple here in Memphis since 1981, giving fans a chance to see many of their favorite college and pro players. But after over 15 years of playing the event on the campus of Southwest Tennessee, the Bluff moved to LeMoyne-Owen just this year. But despite heavy police presence, crowded conditions and the shooting raised security concerns–for both players and fans—forcing organizers to call off the rest of the season.
