Yet Another Bargain Store Robbery

(Memphis) Family Dollar and Dollar General stores are popping up all over the Mid-South. Customers love the deals and the convenience. And armed robbers seem to like the bargain stores too.

Since the beginning of the year there have been 14 armed robberies at bargain stores in Memphis. Surveillance video of a robber in June at a Family Dollar off of Summer, shows a gunman pointing a gun at customers and employees demanding cash.

In DeSoto County there have been a handful of the bargain store robberies. And it was a hold-up at a Dollar General in Friendship Tennessee that the Police Chief Ball Garrett walked in on and was shot.

Of the robberies in Memphis, Christopher Broden is suspected in half and many times police claim he didn’t act alone. He is in police custody.

“It’s bad that you can’t be safe going  to pick up house hold goods and things like that,” said customer Eric Jones.

The latest robbery happened in Memphis on July 4th at a Family Dollar on Hickory Hill road. Reports show that the crooks are sometimes getting away with as much as $3,700 in cash.
