(Memphis) Officers say the victim will be lucky to live through the night. They say the grocery store worker was hit about four times by bullets, at least once in the head.

The victim’s boss, Omar Sumter, says the shooting was the work of revenge, “Definitely. Definitely. I’m sure of that.”

The owner of Breedlove grocery says Thursday night a man came to the store drunk, banging on the door but they wouldn’t let him in.

“I heard them saying last night that he would be back. They are going to burn this store, they are  going to kill somebody,” said Sumter.

Police say the man came back around noon Friday to make good on that promise.
He aimed his AK 47 at the store from this woman’s backyard.

“I know that it wasn’t fireworks,” said Anitra Houston.  ”I yelled for the kids to come in the house. I heard 8 to 9 shots.”

And a Budweiser delivery man got to the store just moments after the shooting.

“The door was locked and I heard some yelling on the inside,” said Everett Bonner, a sales representative with Budweiser of Memphis.

Likely the voice of Sumter coming to the aid of his injured young worker. He says the victims’s name is Sied, who is a quiet man around 20 years old,

He works hard. He works two jobs and seven days a week.  All the guys work seven days a week. We never have a day off. I’ve worked seven years without a day off.”

Sumter says he moved here from Somalia and opened this grocery store seven years ago in hopes of living the American dream.

“I want the American dream,” he said.  ”I opened a business and this happens. It’s tough. What can I do?”
