(Memphis)
The search continues for a missing Midtown 3 year old. The boy was reported missing by his father Maurice Brown Senior Sunday night. However Brown Sr has since been arrested and charged for the disappearance of his son Maurice Brown Junior.
Senior who is charged with Aggravated Child Neglect and Endangerment appeared in court Tuesday morning. He is behind bars on a $1 million bond. Brown Sr. told the judge he did not expect to make his bond. If convicted Brown Sr. faces between 15 and 20 years behind bars for the Class A felony. He is due back in court July 26th with an attorney.
New information is coming to the surface about what neighbors witnessed the night the child disappeared. Christopher Simmons who lives above Maurice Brown Senior at 347 South Pauline told News Channel 3 that he was outside his apartment smoking Sunday between 7 and 8 when he saw Brown Sr leaving his apartment.
“His back was facing me. I was upstairs so once he got around the corner, I really couldn’t see anything after that…I just saw the back of his head on his shoulder like he was asleep,” said Simmons about Brown Sr. carrying a child away from the apartment.
Sharon Toole lives next door to Brown Sr and she told police that she was sleeping Sunday afternoon when a noise woke her up.
“I said I heard some bumping noises that what I said. It sounded like a fight. I don’t know if it was but that’s what I heard, some bumping noises….I hear noises around here all the time,” explained Toole.
Both neighbors have talked with investigators.
Memphis Police are still looking for Maurice Brown Junior. He was last seen wearing a blue batman shirt with jeans. Anyone who might have information is asked to call Memphis Police at 545-COPS.
