(Memphis) A fire in the middle of the night forced more than 60 adults and children from their apartments in North Memphis.

No one was hurt at the South Manor Apartments on Decatur, but several units were damaged.

Felecia Price says she realized the second floor of her apartment building was on fire and started banging on doors to wake everyone up, “We got everybody out. Everybody started waking up. They made sure all the children were out safe and sound.”

It didn’t take long for firefighters to put out the fire, but the flames damaged eight apartments.

Due to smoke and water damage, a total of 18 were deemed uninhabitable.

A MATA bus was brought in to take tenants to a temporary shelter at a local church.

The Red Cross says it’s now housing 30 adults and 35 children.

So far the cause of the fire has not been determined.
