At 17 months old, Drake Pierce needs machines 24 hours a day to survive.

A tracheotomy tube, a  heart rate monitor and  an oxygen tank are just some of the machines he will need for at least the next two years of his life.

” You could be in there and walk in here and he’s purple in the face because he’s got his trach pulled out, you got 30 seconds to get it back in or he`s dead,” said Drake’s father, Robert Pierce.

“I thank God everyday that he’s still here. They told us in the hospital he wouldn’t make it,” said Drake’s mother, Tracey Pierce.

In January,  Drake was trapped inside a bedroom of their house when fire swept through.

That same fire killed his twin brother Blake, injured his three-year old brother and gutted their home .

“Its hard. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever been through.” said his mother Tracey Pierce.

Right now,  17-year-old DJ Wade is charged with Blake’s Death.

It’s not believed Wade started the fire, but the 17-year-old was supposed to be babysitting.

Instead, police say he and an adult were in the house, doing drugs.

Blake’s parents say that was careless, they want the adult locked up also.

“They’re out walking around living their lives, look how my baby is going to live it’s not fair.” said Tracey Pierce.

The family’s lives have been changed forever.

Blake now lives through memories, pictures and a wreath that once stood by his tiny casket.
