Wig Wearing Bank Robber Packing Heat Hits LG&W Credit Union
(Memphis) At the LG&W Federal Credit Union on Covington Pike, its anything, but business as usual.
The parking lot is empty and a note is now taped on the entrance door stating that this branch is closed because of a robbery.
It’s a robbery that surprised customers such as William Chambers.
Chambers said, “I called this morning and nobody answered. I had some business to take care of so I just drove by to see to make a deposit. She told me they had been robbed and I didn’t know.”
But this wasn’t just a typical robbery and apparently neither was this bold robbery suspect who didn’t mind brandishing a weapon in the face of employees.
Security camera pictures showed the suspect wearing a shoulder length wig with black wavy hair and pointing a gun.
The FBI says he greeted employees at gunpoint as they were about to come inside the building Monday morning.
The gunman forced the employees to open the vault and ordered them to lie on the floor as he took money from the vault and then he took off running on foot..
Raymond Rich and his wife, Mary, bank here.
Raymond Rich said, “This is terrible. This place has had so many robberies, it’s unreal. You know I don’t know what they’re going to do about it. Seems like the more police they hire, the more they have.”
Mary Rich said, “Just as long as nobody was hurt, that’s the main thing, you know.”
For now this LG&W Credit Union will remain closed until Wednesday as police try to track down the gunman responsible for rattling the nerves of employees and customers.
Chambers said, “I am really sorry to hear that and people here are good friends. I like them here. They are good to me and I really hate that happened to them. “
The bank robber was last seen wearing a black, with white, design bandana over his mouth. He also had a black jacket, black shirt and black pants.
If you have any information about the robbery you should call the FBI or CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
