(Memphis) Several area home builders are in a race to finish five homes in five days for Habitat for Humanity.

It’s all part of the national “Home Builders Blitz” that kicked off today in Memphis.

Over the next several days, some 200 Habitat for Humanity homes will be built across the country with the help of home builders and their crews.

The five being built in Memphis are going up in Trinity Park, Memphis Habitat’s first planned development.

When they are finished there will be 38 homes in the subdivision..

Monday, some of the people who will be moving into the new homes got to watch the walls go up.

“It’s amazing. It’s been a long time coming. It’s been about a year trying to get everything together and this came through for me. Thank God,” said Tameka Jackson.

Since 1983 Habitat For Humanity had built 400 homes in Memphis.
