Digging Resumes At Home Belonging To Adam Mayes
(Guntown, MS) Investigators were back at the scene of those shallow graves in Union County, MS Monday, collecting more evidence.
“I hope it’s not the mother and the daughter. That would be the most likely scenario or any one of the kids,” said Resident Clay Stevenson. ”It would be terrible if it was one of them actually.”
FBI, US Marshals and local Guntown Police were gathered at the Guntown Community Center for the better half of Monday afternoon.
The Sheriff of Union County said the search is still on for Adam Mayes.
He said authorities don’t know if he’s in the area or out of state, but the Sherrif wanted to tell the people of Union County that they are safe.
He said some of best law enforcement and equipment are working on this case and they are determined to find the man who is considered armed and dangerous
Authorities said Mayes has been on the run since a mother and her three children disappeared from Hardeman County, TN April 27.
Police believe they are with Mayes and that he may have altered their appearance by cutting or dying some of the children’s hair.
This weekend, Authorities found a gruesome discovery behind Mayes home in Alpine, MS: Two bodies whose identities have yet to be released by the FBI.
Neighbors of the suspect describe Mayes as a good person
Karon Crowley is the daughter of his landlord.
She says she met the missing children last Fourth of the July when they came to her house.
The Sheriff of Union County wants to remind the public to be vigilant and to keep their eyes open for Mayes and the children.
He emphasized the $50,000 reward being offered by the FBI and encourages anyone with information to contact authorities.
