(Memphis) – You could almost hear the joy in Diane Hampton’s voice during our interview with her Friday afternoon. She was excited that the forecast called for no rain, something that seemingly never fails when it comes to the Beale Street Music Festival.

“If at some point there is a little shower, it’ll be a cleansing and not so much of a problem,” said Hampton.

However, as crews finish setting up, there is one concern about the weekend; the heat. It’s expected to get up into the 90′s during Musicfest.

“Aside from it being bad on our hair, it’s also going to have a tendency to dehydrate,” said Hampton. “So we want to make sure people stay hydrated.”

Hampton says that means drinking lots water, even if you choose to indulge in a few alcoholic drinks.

“Always remember to use [alcohol] responsibly and consider the heat when you’re drinking responsibly,” she said.

Hampton says, unfortunately, Tom Lee Park does not have much shade. She says if you plan to attend the event, bring sunscreen and a hat.

“There’s always a breeze off the river so it’s not too miserable here,” she said.

In the event that someone suffers heat exhaustion, paramedics will be stationed at first aid tents throughout the park, so everyone can have a safe weekend and enjoy the music.

“Whether you’re from Memphis or whether you’re traveling into Memphis, you’re going to have the time of your life,” she said.
