(Tipton County, TN) A 2-year-old boy is safe after he was taken by his father in a violent early morning abduction.

An AMBER Alert was issued at 6 Friday morning for 2-year-old Ayden Fowlkes.

The Tipton County Sheriff’s Department said Ayden’s father, Jonathan, assaulted several people after breaking into the home of the child’s mother.

Ayden’s grandmother Cindy Pemberton said there was concern the child had been injured during the incident, ”The baby was just flung around like a rag doll. His head hit the railing on the deck. When he dropped him on the rails of the porch going down. He threw him in the truck and screeched off.”

Family members said Jonathan Fowlkes was high on crack cocaine at the time the abduction happened which was just after midnight Friday.

Authorities first found a Jeep Fowlkes was driving, then found him a home belonging to a relative in Brighton, TN.

“Anyone connected in the case either harbored him or anything like that, we’ve been talking with the DA’s office, they could have charges as well,” said Chief Donna Turner with the Tipton Co Sheriff’s Office.

Fowlkes was immediately taken into custody.

Pemberton was thrilled when she hear Ayden had been found and was not injured, “We were wondering if they were going to find him last night and how long it would be before we saw him again. If we saw him again.”
