(Sanford, FL) George Zimmerman walked out of Florida jail around midnight after his family posted the $150,000 bond needed to secure his release.

The 28-year-old surrendered April 11 after the special prosecutor in the Trayvon Martin case charged him with second degree murder.

Zimmerman was a volunteer neighborhood watch captain on patrol when he spotted the 17-year-old walking through his area on February 26.

Zimmerman called 911 to report a suspicious person, gave dispatchers a description and was advised not to follow Martin although he apparently did not follow that advice.

Exactly what happened during the confrontation between Zimmerman and Martin remains unclear, although it ended with Martin shot to death.

Zimmerman claims he was attacked by the teenager and was forced to defend himself.

George Zimmerman will wear a GPS monitoring device while awaiting trial.
