(Memphis) The relocation process for the Ramses II statue from the Pyramid to the University of Memphis campus is done and went off with few problems.

Workers began removing the statue along Front St. at 8:00 a.m. then loaded it onto a truck and drove 30 m.p.h. across the city.

A dedication ceremony for the Ramses II statue is planned for Tuesday.

The replica statue was a gift from Egypt when the Pyramid opened.

A decision was made the statue didn’t quite fit the new Bass Pro Pyramid Shop and it was decided the U of M was the best new home.
