Murder Scene Set On Fire
(Memphis) Investigators are looking into a fire at a home in the 1000 block of Eldridge that began around 7 this morning.
It is the same home where a man was gunned down Saturday night.
Memphis Police say 33-year-old Marco Gilmore was shot several times as he answered his front door Saturday night around 10.
This morning the home was in flames. Memphis Fire Battalion Chief Sue McManus said crews found heavy smoke coming from the home when they arrived.
McManus said the front door of the home was open and inside the front room was fire.
“We would investigate any fire that we were not sure of the origin and that appeared to be intentionally set,” said Chief McManus. ”There was a little shrine with some candles and things on the front porch but it did not have anything to do with the fire.”
Tanya Vaulx watched as the home burned Monday.
Gilmore is the mother of her three children.
She does not think the flames were an accident.
“There is not a doubt in my mind they are associated,” said Vaulx about the fire and murder. “I think it’s more on that person’s conscious, he know he has done wrong,” Vaulx added.
Vaulx said the home where Gilmore lived was cleaned out Sunday by family members.
There was another person living on the other side of the duplex.
She was not home at the time of the fire.
Memphis Police do not have any suspect information.
They are asking anyone with information about the fire or homicide to call CrimeStoppers at 528-CASH.
