Convicted Killer Gets Life Sentence For Shooting Teen Girl

(Memphis) A man accused of killing an 18-year-old girl in a domestic dispute in 2009 was sentenced today to life in prison.

A jury convicted James Williams Friday of killing 18-year-old Kawanda Wainwright. Late Saturday night, jurors reached a decision to give him life in prison with the possibility of parole.

The murder happened in the early morning of July 5, 2009. Officers found two women and a girl with gunshot wounds.

Police say Williams got into an argument with the victims and started shooting.

He will be sentenced on three attempted murder charges and a weapons charge next month.
