Police Arrest Son In Mother’s Stabbing

(Memphis) 22-year-old William Walsh is charged with killing his own mother. He faces a first degree murder charge.

Police say 55-year-old Elaine Walsh was dead when paramedics arrived.

She is an employee at the University of Memphis’ University College.

Police were called to the 5400 block of Gwynn around 7 o’clock this morning.

Walsh was found stabbed to death.

Reports are she had a number of injuries to the upper part of her body.

The U of M and president Shirley Raines released a statement saying, ”The University extends its sympathy to the family, friends and co-workers of Elaine Walsh.  She was a valued employee for eight years. We are deeply saddened by this tragedy.”
