Redbirds Snap 9-Game Losing Streak

MEMPHIS, TN – Memphis snapped a nine-game slide with a late rally Sunday afternoon to top Oklahoma City 4-3 at AutoZone Park.

The Redbirds and RedHawks battled back and forth throughout the game, tying it up 3-3 as they headed into the bottom of the eighth inning. Chris Swauger had a hard hit double to right field for Memphis and headed home on an error by RedHawks shortstop Angel Sanchez to put the ‘Birds on top 4-3, for what would end up being the winning run. Jermaine Curtis led the Redbirds going 2-for-2 with two runs scored as Adron Chambers went 1-for-3 with two RBI on the game.

Enerio Del Rosario was pegged with the loss for Oklahoma City, giving up the winning run on two hits in one inning pitched. Memphis reliever Adam Reifer notched his first win on the season pitching around an error in 0.1 innings of work while Eduardo Sanchez nailed down his second save with a scoreless ninth inning.

The ‘Birds and ‘Hawks wrap up their four-game series tomorrow night with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. Brian Broderick takes the ball for Memphis to face Oklahoma City’s Aneury Rodriguez.
