Hot Dog, Jimmy’s Is Gone
(Bartlett) It’s the end of an era in the Memphis area. Jimmy’s Chicago-style hot dog restaurant in Bartlett is closing today after being open almost a decade.
Jimmy O’Connor, the owner and founder of Jimmy’s Hot Dogs, said he is closing because of his health and the poor economy.
The Mid-South is going to miss his deep-dish pizzas, Chicago-style dogs and Italian beef sandwiches.
There are all things that are staples of Jimmy’s hometown of Chicago
While he believes it’s the right time to close, Jimmy says he’ll miss the many loyal customers that have patronized his business over the years.
The following message is posted on Jimmy’s website:
The first picture we hung on the wall was of Christ with this saying,
“I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it.”
We regret to say that we have gone out of business.
We have fought it as much as we could but in the end
just like a lot of other small businesses during these times
the economy has taken away everything &
we couldn’t withstand the weight that kept piling up.
After my lovely bride & I sat down & deeply
discussed it, we came to the realazation
we cannot continue piling stress after stress on us.
Our health is the biggest concern now & it is what matters most,
so we’ll just take it day by day and go from there.
