Verizon To Implement New $30 Charge

Verizon Wireless, the country’s largest cellphone company, says it will start charging $30 every time a subscriber wants to upgrade to a new phone.

The fee is similar to one other mobile providers have already been charging.

AT&T increased its device upgrade fee to $36 from $18 in February.

The new Verizon fee goes into effect April 22.

The company says the fee funds customer support and online educational information.
