Redbirds announce 2012 Opening Day roster

(MEMPHIS) The Memphis Redbirds announced today their anticipated roster for the team’s 2012 season opener Thursday, April 5 at 7:05 p.m. at Oklahoma City.

The Redbirds plan to open the season with 13 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders and three outfielders. The projected 2012 Opening Day roster is as follows:

PITCHERS (13): Nick Additon, Brian Broderick, Barret Browning, Maikel Cleto, Brandon Dickson, Chuckie Fick, Joe Kelly, Shelby Miller, Adam Reifer, Eduardo Sanchez, R.J. Swindle, Victor Marte, Jess Todd;

CATCHERS (2): Bryan Anderson, Steven Hill;

INFIELDERS (6): Matt Adams, Zack Cox, Jermaine Curtis, Pete Kozma, Ryan Jackson, Eugenio Velez;

OUTFIELDERS (3): Amaury Cazana-Marti, Adron Chambers, Chris Swauger;

Manager Ron Warner begins his first season at the helm for the Redbirds. Hitting coach Mark Budaska and pitching coach Blaise Ilsley return for the 2012 campaign. Trainer Jeremy Clipperton joins the ‘Birds for his first year as strength coach Sean Johnson enters his second season.

The team will first take the field at AutoZone Park tomorrow, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. during Bird Watching. Fans are invited to enjoy the afternoon at the ballpark while watching the Redbirds practice (weather permitting) as they prepare for Opening Day. Free hot dogs, nachos and soda will be provided.
