(Memphis) An 18-year-old MCS student is behind bars after MPD claim he fired a weapon on school property.

According to the police report, officers were called Wednesday around 4:30 in the afternoon.

There was a fight and police claim someone from the crowd fired a weapon into the ground.

According the affidavit, police were collecting information when dispatch received a call from 18-year-old Quinton Guy saying that he “believed police were looking for him.”

Officers reported they picked up Guy who they say admitted to bringing the gun to the school campus, firing the weapon and where they could find it.

Officers later located the gun in a town home off of Tulane during a search.

Parents dropping their kids off at school Thursday said they were not aware there was a shooting.

They had plenty of questions.

“Did he bring it inside the school himself? Do they have any security,” said parent Rush George.

“I wish you know that the parents would be more aware of what’s going on with their children,” said parent Sonya Sterling.

MCS said they notified parents Thursday.

They also claim they do have security officers at the school but they do not stay after school unless there is an event.

They claim they will now be patrolling along with MPD at Whitehaven High School.

Guy is now charged with Carrying a weapon on school property, reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He is due in court on Friday morning.
