(Albuquerque, NM) An Arlington, TN native has been given a top honor by the Governor of New Mexico.

The New Mexico Sheriffs’ and Police Association and New Mexico Governor, Susana Martinez, awarded Ross Goodwin with the Law Officer of the Year for the state of New Mexico.

Goodwin, who has been a border patrol agent for three years, saved the life of an illegal immigrant while in the line of duty.

The man had been running from the border patrol when he fell down the side of a mountain and Goodwin rescued him.

Before the border patrol, Goodwin did two tours of duty in Iraq.
