(Memphis) Sean Harris is fed up with the most recent act of violence in his area.

One man carjacked, another kidnapped, and both robbed. It was all the brazen work of two criminals.

“It’s just a shame that people can’t even drive around Memphis without somebody trying to rob them or carjack them,” said Harris.

Memphis police say a man, sitting in his car at a red light at Knight Arnold and Perkins, was approached by two men with guns early Wednesday morning.

They forced the driver into the back seat and took off, but not before also kidnapping a man walking down the street.

“It just seems like it’s a side of the times where people are pushing the buck and you have to take extra measures to protect yourself,” said Harris.

The two men were robbed while being held hostage in the backseat.

Police say the carjacker called someone on his cell phone and relayed one victim’s ATM card number to the person on the other end.

He then demanded the pin number and told the victims he would kill both of them if turned out to be wrong.

“It’s definitely scary,” said Steven Burress. “You think you’ve thought of everything somebody could possibly do and then somebody else has gimmick you’ve never heard of.”

The victims were taken to the intersection of Jack Bond and Brunswick Road, forced to strip, told to get out of the car and walk in the opposite direction.

“That was dirty,” said Harris.

Burress added, “I’m not sure if the individuals had any history with the other individuals or not, but if they didn’t, that’s just a sad case right there,”

Deputies found the men walking down Brunswick road and say the incident is a good reminder to be on guard.

“You just have to know your surroundings and just be cautious, be heady,” said Burress. “If anything doesn’t look good or feel good then use your best judgment and go with your gut.”
