TN Attorney General Says School Discussions Premature
(Nashville, TN) An opinion by the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office obtained by the Memphis Flyer says the suburbs of Shelby County may not be able to move forward with their push to create their own districts.
The ruling says the circumstances, “…Continue to prohibit any municipality in Shelby County from taking any action to establish a school district or special school district.”
This will have a major impact on several referendums scheduled for later this year which would be the first step in creating separate school districts for those suburbs.
We are continuing to follow this breaking story and will bring you more information as we get it.
